Vitesh Naik's unique style has made him one of Goa's most visible and feted artists. His major concern, which manifests itself in this painting, is pollution of the beaches of Goa, destruction of its heritage structures and environmental issues that threaten to dull the future of one of the most beautiful parts of India. Frida Kahlo's "Time Flies" inspired Vitesh to paint his own somewhat tense portrait against the backdrop of destruction and construction by greedy promoters. As time passes, the beauty of Goa will vanish into history. The artist wishes that, like Hanuman, he could life up his beloved state and carry it away to a safer greener space.
This painting uses self-portraiture the way Frida Kahlo did, to tell one's own story.
